Dr. Zhaoxue Lu has taught and practiced acupuncture and herbal medicine for over 26 years. He earned his advanced doctoral degree in internal medicine with a specialization of endocrinology from one of the most renowned universities in China: Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He also holds a Bachelor's in medicine and a Master's in orthopedics and traumatology.
Prior to moving to the United States in 2001, Dr. Lu held the positions of staff physician and Associate Professor at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its affiliated hospital. He had worked as orthopedic surgeon, internist, herbalist, and acupuncturist. Currently, he is the Chair of Oriental Medicine and Associate Dean of Doctoral Studies at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM). He teaches specialty topics of orthopedics, pain management, and endocrinology for the doctoral program, and he also supervises its the doctoral degree clinic.
Besides educating future acupuncturists, he is one of the pioneers to promote acupuncture in the western hospitals. He is an adjunct instructor at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and has been practicing at OHSU Family Medicine since 2007. From 2014 to 2020, Dr. Lu had hospital privilege at Good Samaritan Medical Center of Legacy Health and saw in-patients in the hospital.
Dr. Lu has authored many publications about Chinese Medicine in Chinese and English. He is also an active researcher with collaboration with OHSU and other institutions. He was one of the two Oregon research acupuncturists conducting the phase III trial since 2012 on “Randomized Blinded Sham- and Waitlist-Controlled Trial of Acupuncture for Joint Symptoms Related to Aromatase Inhibitors in Women with Early Stage Breast Cancer” led by Columbia University and funded by SWOG S1200.
Dr. Lu has great strength in pain management with credentialing and membership of American Academy of Pain Management. He also has treated a wide range of disorders with the use of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Tui Na/Chinese massage. He is very successful in the treatment of the following disorders:
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is not new to Dr. Fang Zhang! She comes from three generations of Chinese doctors. Both of her parents are well known doctors in China and are often invited as visiting professors for the doctoral program of Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.
Dr. Fang Zhang earned her Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in 2010. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in TCM from the highly acclaimed Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1995 and had practiced and taught for 7 years at the Chengdu University of TCM and its affiliated hospital, where she held the positions of Assistant Professor and Chief Staff Physician prior to moving to the United States. Prior to joining the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2004, she taught and supervised at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico and the Southwest Acupuncture College in New Mexico. After teaching full time for 8 years, Dr. Zhang currently teaches at OCOM as part-time faculty and sees patients at Pearl Acupuncture & Wellness Center.
Dr. Zhang is also a master of Qi Gong and Tai Ji. She practices and teaches Tai Ji, Qi Gong and Ba Duan Jing (Eight Sections of Brocade) regularly. She taught at Legacy Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University of Portland.
Dr. Zhang is skilled in integrating western medicine with Chinese medicine. She had hospital privilege at Good Samaritan Medical Center of Legacy Health from 2015 to 2021 and saw in-patients in the hospital.
She is also an active researcher.
